St Philomena College Students’ Council Inauguration
Puttur December 6: Inauguration of the Students’
Council of St Philomena College was held in Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the college.
Very Rev. Fr Jerome
Lawrence Mascarenhas, Correspondent of the College presided over the function.
In his presidential address he said “ If we love someone, we will be in a
position to do whatever possible to make
them happy. If students love their College they will always try to
uphold the name and fame of the College. The same is expected not only from
Students’ Council but from the entire Student Community. That commitment will
help the students to come out with flying colours”
Mr Subbappa Kaikamba,
Principal, Govt First Grade College, Uppinangady participated as the chief guest.
He inaugurated the Students’ Council by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural
address “It is possible to kindle thousands lights from one single spark.
Likewise shared knowledge always helps in enhancing ones intellect. Leaders are
to create leaders and not followers. If educational institutions are able to
nurture personalities, the institutions grows by itself. In the current
scenario is necessary for the youth to think thousand times before taking an
important decision. In the rat race of life one should not miss the golden
opportunity which comes on the way”
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro administered the
oath to all the members of the Students’ Council.
Mr Mourice Mascarenhas, Vice-president, Mai De Devus
Paris Pastoral Council participated as guest of honour wished the Students’
Council members and said that they should understand their responsibility and
act accordingly leading towards the welfare of the Institution.
Felicitating the
members of the Students’ Council, Mr Ksrishna Prasad Alva and Mr A Jagajeevan
Das Rai, presidents of Parent Teacher Association and Alumni Associations
respectively assured their fullest support and cooperation in the activities of
the Council.
Students of Performing
Arts rendered prayer, Mohammad Ashik, President of the Students’ Council
welcomed the guests and the gathering, Anushree, Secretary introduced the guest, and
Johnviston Titas Dias of III BCA
extended floral welcome, Shivani M,
Joint Secretary of the Council proposed
vote of thanks and the program was compered by Raksha Anchan of III BSc.
Students’ welfare officers Dr Chandrashekhar K and Mrs Bharathi S Rai were
present on the dais on this occasion. Rev. Fr Ashok Aryan Crasta, Principal of
St Philomena P U College, Mrs Carmin Pias, Headmistress of St Philomena High
School, Mr V J Fernandes, Mr Xavier Dsouza were present on this occasion.
