India may revoke Gulf flight cancellations |

Instructions yet to be communicated to Air India regional office in UAE
The Government of India has decided to revoke Air India's decision to cancel some of its flights operating from the Gulf.
The decision was communicated by the Air India CMD Arvind Jadha, said Indian media reports. However, Air India's Regional Manager for Gulf Abhay Pathak said he was not aware of any such decision.
According to Hit FM, a Malayalam radio channel broadcasting from Dubai, India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself intervened and assured his cabinet colleagues from Kerala that the decision to cancel flights to the Gulf, especially to Saudi Arabia and the UAE will be reversed.
Almost 75 flights from Kerala to the region was set to be cancelled from next week.
Air India Express had announced cancellation of daily flights to Sharjah from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode airports from September 20 and three flights per week to Muscat from September 13.
The Thiruvananthapuram-Dubai and Thiruvananthapuram-Abu Dhabi daily flights stands cancelled from September 20.
Meanwhile protests from various political organisations led to attacks and the airline offices in Trivandrum and Cochin were destroyed.
Air India announced its decision on Saturday to cancel 203 flights, mostly operating from India to the Gulf .
The airline blamed the decision on shortage of cabin crew and the lean season during the next two months.
"There is a rule that cabin crew should not exceed more than 1,000 hours of flying in a year. There is no way we will be able to meet this target unless we cancel some of the services," said Pathak had said.
Speaking over telephone this evening he said, I am yet to be told of the decision to revoke the cancellation order. If it is true it will soon be communicated to us," he said.
