Muscat October 31, 2009: No doubt 22nd October 2009 will be remembered for a long time by the Muscat Mogaveers as each member who attended the Deepavali Dhamaka experienced the ecstatic pleasure with non-stop entertainment programme neatly presented by the members of Muscat Mogaveers culminated with games, prizes and surprises.
Actually, when the Muscat Mogaveers had a family get-together on 3rd April 2009, the ever enthusiastic members eagerly asked at the time of closing ceremony "Nana Yepa" (when is the next function?) Yes, after a couple of months’ busy schedule, Nana Yepa came in the form of “Deepavali Dhamaka" with a big bang on Thursday, 22rd October 2009 at Hotel Majan Inter-Continental. As many as 200 people attended the Deepavali Dhamaka and enjoyed the evening with their families and friends in a soothing ambience.
Mr. Ravi Kanchan and Mr. Ramanand Kunder’s team did a fantastic job in decorating the stage and the entrance to the hall in a traditional way with banana stems and fresh flowers, which created a festive outlook. Thanks to Mr. Yuvaraj Salian and Mrs. Rekha Arun Tingalaya, fresh Mallige flower was specially flown in from Mangalore and every lady member was welcomed with a mallige male.
"Deepavali", the festival of lights, was celebrated with fervor and gaiety. The programme kicked-off with a soulful devotional Hindi prayer song "Humko Manki Shakti Dena Man Vijay Kare" rendered by Mr. Koni Prakash Naik, Mr. Ashok Kotian, Mrs. Pushpa Kotian, Ms. Chaitra Kotian, Mr. Praveen Suvarna, Mr. Lokesh Kunder, Mrs. Sujatha Lokesh, Mrs. Amita Kotian and Master Deepit Kotian played the Tabla. The song was just apt for the current times, as we all need mental strength and the blessings of God Almighty to carry on with our duties and routines with devotion and clean heart. While the prayer song was being rendered, the members lit the traditional diyas (lamps) as a symbol to dispel darkness and light up their lives. The lighting of lamps is a way of paying obeisance to God for attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace, valor and fame.
Mr. P. Y. Kotian, the Convenor of Muscat Mogaveers, welcomed the members and compered the whole programme with the able support of Mr. Suchit. At the concluding session, Mr. Kotian also proposed the vote of thanks, thanking and appreciating the efforts of every member who contributed to the success of the programme.
Members and children of Muscat Mogaveers presented scintillating variety entertainment programme which included an eye catching fashion show beautifully choreographed and presented by Mrs. Naina Mendon, Mrs. Anita Tharanath Kotian and Mrs. Sujata Lokesh. As many as 20 children as young as 3 years to teenage took part in the fashion show in their colourful and trendy attire. It was a marvelous sight to watch and well appreciated by the entire audience and the event really brought the audience into festive mood.
Some electrifying dance performances and some wonderful music renditions were given by the young and adults from the member community which kept the audience enthralled throughout the function. Master Nishan Ramanand Kunder presented a foot tapping break dance, Master Prashanth presented a mixture of hip-hop and break dance, Ms. Natasha’s team comprising of Ms. Chaitra, Ms. Rashmi, Ms. Ashwini, Ms. Ruchika and Ms. Nikita staged a well choreographed group dance for a popular hindi song “JAI HO" which was mesmerizing and gathered a huge round of applause from the audience. Mrs. Amitha Govardan presented a fabulous dance on “Dolare Dola". To cap it all, Ms. Natasha’s belly dance to an Arabic tune “Diddi Diddi" was the highlight of the dance programme and thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.
As a surprise package Ms. Dhriti and Master Mithil, children of Mr. Ravi Kanchan, presented a cute dance for a hindi number “Rabne Banadi Jodi" Mrs. Amita Kotian, Mr. Ajay Amin, Mr. Praveen Suvarna, Mr. Ashok Kotian and Mr. Koni Prakash Naik, Ms. Chaitra Kotian rendered some melodious and popular hindi / kannada songs. Mrs. Amita Kotian co-ordinated the entertainment section of the programme.
Interesting / funny games such as Cup Balancing Race for ladies, Goal Mall for bachelors, Passing through the Hoop for couples, were conducted so as to keep the members busy and occupied. Sports and Entertainment Committee team comprising of Mr. Koni Prakash Naik, Mrs. Sujata Kunder and Mrs. Vatsala Naik conducted the games.
Dr. Shekar Salian, a senior and well respected member of the Muscat Mogaveers, graced the occasion with his wife and later on gave away the Academic Excellence Awards to the members’ children who passed their 10th and 12th board exams in the academic year 2008/09 securing 70% and above marks. This was initiated by the Muscat Mogaveers Committee recently in order to encourage the children to further excel in their educational fields.
Muscat Mogaveers strongly believe in and encourage total development of the community especially in social, cultural, educational and sports fields. The Academic Excellence Award was sponsored by Mr. Ramanand Kunder, Mr. Koni Prakash Naik and Mr. Ravi Kanchan.
Winners of the games events were presented with attractive prizes and as a gesture of encouragement, all the participants of different entertainment programmes were presented with valuable gifts. The prizes/gifts were kindly sponsored by Dr. Shekar Salian.
Some of the over excited members could not control themselves from taking the stage to show their inherent dancing talent to the tune of some kannada and hindi medley numbers, which was in deed a spirited performance. A sumptuous dinner with variety of starters with veg / non-veg combination was served to the content of the members.
A round of Tambola (Housie Housie) game was also conducted. An LG Refrigerator as mega prize for the “Star of the Day – Lucky Mogaveera" was sponsored by Mr. Ashish Kumar and Mrs. Mallika Yuvaraj was turned out to be that “Lucky Star" and walked away with the mega prize.
All in all it was well co-ordinated, well planned and well presented show and kudos to the Muscat Mogaveers Executive Committee for putting up a wonderful and memorable show.
